Under the patronage of the President of the University of Basra, Professor Dr. Muhannad Jawad Kadhim, and the supervision of the Dean of the College of Engineering, Professor Dr. Mufeed Turki Rashid, the Women's Affairs Unit at the College of Engineering, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit, held an awareness lecture entitled “Drugs and Their Effects on Society.”
The lecture, presented by Assistant Lecturer Shireen Mohammed Ibrahim from the College of Engineering, addressed the dangers of drugs and their negative effects on the individual, the family, and society. It also discussed the health, psychological, and social dimensions of this phenomenon, methods of prevention, and ways to reduce its spread, emphasizing the importance of community awareness and the role of educational institutions in combating this scourge.
The lecture was attended by a number of students and faculty members, and a discussion was held to exchange views, contributing to strengthening preventative awareness among young people and reinforcing positive values that protect society from these dangers.
This event is part of a series of awareness activities organized by the College of Engineering with the aim of raising awareness among its students and enhancing its community role in addressing important issues.
