As part of its commitment to strengthening the university’s role in serving the community and developing the potential of young people, the College of Engineering at the University of Basra has announced the launch of the "Ashri’a" (Sails) program. Supported by the Basra Oil Company and the Oil and Gas Committee of the Basra Provincial Council, the program aims to empower youth, refine their scientific and practical skills, and prepare them for entry into the labor market.
The program aligns with the requirements of development and the job market by providing training, qualification, and professional capacity-building opportunities. It focuses on enhancing the skills of young people to meet the specific needs of institutions and companies, particularly within the engineering and oil sectors.
Furthermore, "Ashri’a" seeks to bridge the gap between academic outcomes and the demands of the labor market. It fosters partnerships between academic institutions, the oil sector, and government bodies, contributing to the preparation of a qualified generation of youth—capable of innovation, productivity, and active participation in the development of Basra Governorate.
The launch of this program reflects the dedication of the College of Engineering at the University of Basra and its partners to investing in young talent. By providing tangible pathways for professional training and development, the initiative aims to improve employment prospects and help the province’s youth build promising professional futures.
