The College of Engineering at the University of Basra, in cooperation with UNESCO, organized a scientific seminar entitled "A Case Study of Reconstruction (Al-Hadba Minaret of Mosul)," with the participation of a number of faculty members, researchers, and students.
The seminar highlighted the international and national efforts undertaken to reconstruct the Al-Hadba Minaret in Mosul, one of the most prominent historical and heritage landmarks in Iraq, which suffered damage in recent years. The seminar also reviewed the engineering and technical phases of the reconstruction process, focusing on the modern technologies used to preserve the minaret's original architectural identity.
The seminar emphasized the importance of cooperation between academic institutions and international organizations in supporting reconstruction projects and preserving cultural heritage, as well as the role of such projects in enhancing the scientific and practical expertise of students and researchers.
This seminar is part of a series of scientific activities through which the College of Engineering seeks to link the academic aspect with real-world experiences, and to raise awareness of the importance of preserving architectural heritage in Iraq.
