Embodying the spirit of cooperation between academic institutions and the industrial sector, and as part of the ongoing effort to enhance students' practical skills, the Mechatronics Engineering Department at the College of Engineering, University of Basrah, organized a field trip for second-year students to the Al-Abar Al-Sharq Adhesives Factory. The visit aimed to familiarize students with the latest technologies used in the production lines. The students were shown the automation and digital control systems that manage the mixing and packaging processes, providing them with a valuable opportunity to connect theoretical curricula with practical applications in the field of mechatronics engineering, particularly concerning industrial sensors and programmable logic controllers (PLCs). The tour included a detailed explanation by the factory's engineering staff on the operating mechanisms, the industrial robots used (such as KUKA Robot), maintenance procedures, and the international quality standards followed. For their part, the professors of the Mechatronics Engineering Department, represented by Professor Dr. Ali Ahmed, expressed their thanks and appreciation to the management of the Trans-East Laboratory for the warm welcome and opening up avenues for knowledge cooperation, stressing that these visits come within the college’s plan to prepare a generation of engineers capable of meeting the requirements of the labor market and contributing effectively to the development of national industry.
