Under the patronage of the President of the University of Basrah, Prof. Dr. Saad Shaheen Hammadi, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Mofed Turky Rased, the Follow-up Division was established in the College of Engineering at the University of Basrah
 In cooperation with the Directorate of Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances, a symposium on drugs and psychotropic substances and their danger to the educational institution was held.
The lecture presented by the Director of the Media and Relations Division in the Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Directorate in Basra, Mr. Muhannad Hassan Asoud, discussed the definition of drugs and their types, the reasons that lead to abuse, ways to reduce their spread, how to know the person who is abusing, the role of the educational institution in confronting drugs, and the psychological and behavioral treatment of drugs.
The symposium aims to introduce society in general and students in particular to the dangers and harms of drugs
 The symposium recommended the need for educational institutions to contribute to educating students about the dangers of drugs and reducing their spread.
