The Electrical Engineering Department at the College of Engineering, University of Basra, organized a field trip to the Al-Najeebiya Gas Power Plant. The trip aimed to enhance students' practical skills and connect theoretical knowledge with real-world applications in the electricity generation sector.
During the visit, students toured the plant's main sections and learned about the operation of the gas turbine units. They also received a detailed explanation of the control and safety systems used to ensure continuous and efficient power production. The tour included discussions on the latest technologies used in gas-fired power plants and their role in supporting the electrical grid in Basra Governorate.
At the end of the trip, the students expressed their appreciation for the valuable information they gained, emphasizing the importance of such scientific activities in developing their skills and enhancing their readiness for the job market
