The College of Engineering at the University of Basra, in cooperation with UNESCO, organized a scientific symposium entitled "Frameworks for Heritage Preservation and Management," presented by Dr. Yasmine Makron Bou Asaf.

The symposium aimed to highlight the importance of protecting cultural and tangible heritage, highlight modern frameworks for the sustainable management of heritage sites, and discuss the role of academic institutions and international partnerships in strengthening efforts to protect heritage from various threats.

The lecturer emphasized that preserving heritage is a shared responsibility that requires the cooperation of universities, international organizations, and the local community to ensure its continuity and transmission to future generations.

At the conclusion of the symposium, a discussion was opened, with attendees offering a series of contributions and recommendations that focused on practical mechanisms to enhance heritage protection in Iraq and the region.
