Head of the Department of Architecture makes a research visit to the United Kingdom

The head of the Department of Architecture at the College of Engineering at the University of Basrah, Dr. Hamid Hayab Samir, made a research visit to the United Kingdom, during which he visited the Iraqi Cultural Attaché in London and met with the cultural advisor, Dr. Muhammad Al-Hashemi, and discussed the role of the attaché in supporting research visits for Iraqi researchers and encouraging research proposals for Iraqi universities and ways to cooperate with them. The invitation submitted by the Iraqi embassy in London to attend the symposium on Iraqi heritage was also met. On the sidelines of the symposium, the Iraqi ambassador to London, Mr. Jaafar al-Sadr, was met and discussed the importance of Iraqi heritage and how to preserve it from threats and dangers and how to work on benefiting from the experiences of British universities in the field of documenting and preserving heritage using modern technologies and the role of the embassy in finding a mechanism for cooperation between Iraqi universities and British universities and institutions specialized in this field by holding seminars and workshops to shed light on the Iraqi heritage and inform the world of the importance and nobility of this heritage.
In addition to visiting University College London (UCL), meeting with the Director of the Department of Heritage and Antiquities in the College of History, visiting the British Institute for Iraqi Studies, and meeting a number of specialists in the heritage of Iraq and the Middle East.
