Under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Saad Shaheen Hammadi, President of the University of Basrah and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ramzy Salim Ali, Dean of the College of Engineering, the Department of Architectural Engineering at the College of Engineering at the University of Basrah hosted the architect, Dr. Muhammad Khaled Al-Aasam, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Diwan Al-Amara Company - Consulting Engineers - Dubai. Which is considered one of the best hundred Architectural engineering company in the world according to the classification ( Building Design Magazine ) for the year 2020 It has many branches in seven countries in the world. Where the doctor gave a lecture entitled (Stations in my practice of the profession of architecture) in which he touched on the architectural profession and how the architect performs his role in organizing the urban environment, solving the problems of the city, urban and environmental sustainability, in addition to emphasizing the topic of heritage. During which he presented a group of architectural projects with various jobs in many countries of the world, the Middle East and Iraq, and he also gave many instructions and directives to architecture students to benefit from them in their next professional life. And since Al-Asam is one of the founders of the International Architectural Excellence Award, which is held annually for graduation projects for students of architectural departments, this topic was addressed during the lecture and he answered the students’ questions about the application mechanism and the criteria approved for obtaining the award. At the end of the lecture, many questions and interventions were asked by the attendees about architectural practice and the future of architecture.
