The Department of Civil Engineering is interested in developing engineering education in Iraq by creating a distinguished, renewable program recognized at the national and international levels, providing a high-quality engineering and educational environment, services and research that enrich the profession, advance the community, and provide highly qualified civil engineers to build and serve their country.
Department message:
The Civil Engineering Department seeks to achieve the needs of the Iraqi society and the region of civil engineers by providing high-quality programs in education, scientific research and community service by providing the best educational opportunities to graduate distinguished students who are able to keep pace with the latest scientific developments in accordance with comprehensive quality standards, and to help students develop their abilities And refine their practical and technical skills to enable them to enter the labor market and succeed in it to continue learning and progress in their chosen jobs, as well as provide a creative learning environment that pushes the department’s employees to greater productivity.
Department goals:-
The educational objectives of the Civil Engineering Department at the College of Engineering at the University of Basrah are:
1- Providing the student with a contemporary educational and scientific experience that enriches his skills so that he is distinguished in his practical life or higher studies.
2- Providing study materials, including graduation projects, that develop analysis and design skills in the various fields of civil engineering, document work ethics, the spirit of cooperation and communication, and employ technology to serve all that.
3- Develop the student's scientific and creative abilities so that he is distinguished among his colleagues at work or in graduate studies.
4- Continuous participation of the department in continuous evaluation processes, whether internal or external, to ensure quality in the quality of education.
5- Providing a pioneering environment based on distinguished engineering expertise for faculty members in addition to distinguished administrators and facilities that meet all the needs of students and thus the community as a whole.
6- Providing equal educational opportunities for students and enabling them to achieve their aspirations for progress and success.
7- Maintaining the department's vitality, productivity and efficiency by increasing the number of distinguished students and providing an effective academic climate.
8- Graduating engineers with comprehensive knowledge of the basics of civil engineering.
9- Graduating engineers who have the ability to apply design, management and construction methods in civil engineering projects.
10- Graduating engineers with the ability to acquire communication skills and teamwork in multidisciplinary projects.
