
The students of the third stage in the Department of Computer Engineering at the College of Engineering at the University of Basrah made a scientific visit to the Basrah Governorate Police Directorate, accompanied by Dr. Musab Adel Ali, the administrative assistant in the College of Engineering, Dr. Hassanein Shaker Hassan, and Dr. Heba Hakem, a teaching assistant in the Department of Computer Engineering. This visit comes within the framework of joint coordination between the University of Basrah and the public and private sectors in the province in order to expand the students’ perceptions and enhance their field and practical knowledge of the fields of work and the modern systems used in reality, including communication systems, servers, and methods used in combating cybercrime.
The Initial Response Division was visited in the directorate, where the reception was wonderful with students and teaching staff. Lt. Col. Mustafa Ali Najm - Officer of the Initial Response Division - expressed the unit's readiness to receive students through summer training or to have joint graduation projects with college students. The Cybercrime Division was also visited and the latest devices used to combat cybercrime were reviewed. Then the students had a tour of the forensic evidence department, including the laboratories and equipment used in the criminal investigation. In conclusion, the responsible officers expressed their happiness at the visit and their readiness for any form of cooperation between the university and the directorate.
